Why Buying the A10 Piston SA on Amazon Japan Can Cost You ¥10,000 More (and Is It on Rakuten?)

This article is about buying the A10 Piston SA in Japan. If you buy it on Amazon Japan, you could end up losing ¥10,000 or more in the worst case, once you count the related items too (as of May 2022).

On top of that, you can't be sure you'll get a genuine unit.

To cut down the risk of getting a fake even a little, I'd skip Amazon.

My conclusion: don't buy it on Amazon — buy it from NLS, an adult online store that had been around for over 20 years when I wrote this (NLS is the official Japanese online store for RENDS/VORZE).

That's where I bought my own A10 Piston SA, safely and without any worries.

Rakuten (a big Japanese marketplace) doesn't sell the A10 Piston SA (as of May 2022).

Keep in mind that if something goes wrong, you may get no help at all.

When I checked in May 2022, the company selling the A10 Piston SA on Amazon had only about a year of history, and only around 200 sales across all its products.

I have to say I wouldn't feel confident about returns or help with a unit that's faulty out of the box.

NLS, on the other hand, had been in business for 22 years when I wrote this, and is probably the No. 1 seller of the A10 Piston, so it feels much safer.

They're also used to handling problems and returns.

Your family might open the box

When a box arrives from Amazon, someone in your family may think “That's mine!” — and open it.

If your household orders from Amazon a lot, that's exactly the trap.

Picture someone in your family opening the box and being shocked by the sleeve inside. For their sake, don't take that risk.

On Amazon, you couldn't change the item name printed on the delivery (as of May 2022).

NLS will change the item name and the sender name to whatever you like.

For example, if you have the item name set to something everyday like “plastic bottles”, the weight is about right too, so nobody will think twice.

If you really, really don't want to get caught, NLS also offers hold-for-pickup delivery (the parcel waits until you collect it yourself), so I recommend that.

The seller is based in China

Wouldn't you worry whether you'll really get a genuine unit?

If there's a problem, they may not understand Japanese.

Sorting anything out would definitely be a headache.

If you don't speak Chinese, that's a big risk.

Did you check the seller's ratings carefully?

How many ratings do they have?

Make sure to look for bad ratings, too.

And fake reviews are everywhere on Amazon, so take the ratings with a grain of salt.

In other words, some sellers buy their ratings with money.

If that's the case, it's safer to buy from NLS, which will even help you by phone when there's a problem (its shopping guide still lists a phone line and exchanges for faulty items as of September 2026).

It stays in your Amazon order history

If you share one Amazon account with your family (to watch Prime Video together, for example), keep in mind that they could find out what you bought.

It's not just the order history, either — related products may start showing up in the recommendations.

It's safer not to buy this kind of thing from a store you use every day.

The stock may be old

With an unknown seller on Amazon, stock may not move very fast.

That means you could get an old unit.

Getting a really old A10 Piston SA feels risky to me.

The sleeve that comes with the A10 Piston SA doesn't like heat, and it isn't all that durable.

So I'd recommend buying from a popular store and getting a recently made A10 Piston SA.

Rakuten Doesn't Sell the A10 Piston SA

I searched Rakuten to see whether it sells the A10 Piston SA.

It turned out it isn't sold there (as of May 2022).

I've read about 200 reviews of the A10 Piston SA in total, and none of them mentioned buying it on Rakuten, so it doesn't look like Rakuten ever sold it in the past either.

Rakuten doesn't sell other products from the same maker either, so I'd assume you won't be able to buy it there in the future (as of May 2022).

And even if you could, Rakuten tended to send you marketing mail afterwards (May 2022) — another risk.

Is the A10 Piston SA Sold on Yahoo! Shopping?

I searched Yahoo! Shopping (another Japanese marketplace) for “A10 Piston SA”, but it wasn't sold there either (as of May 2022).

Summary

If you do buy on Amazon, always check who the seller is.

Whether you can trust the seller is what keeps you from getting scammed.

If you find a cheap listing outside Amazon too, start by being suspicious.

If you pay by bank transfer, is the account in a company's name?

Never transfer money to a personal account.

And if the price of an A10 Piston SA looks too good to be true, assume you're being scammed before you send any money.

If you want a genuine unit at the lowest price, buy it from NLS.
