A10 Piston SA Warranty and What to Do If It Breaks

For a precision device, that hurts.
Many problems are easy to fix, so it would be a waste to throw it away just because you think it's broken.

Does the A10 Piston SA Have a Warranty?
The A10 Piston SA has no warranty (as of May 2022).
When I asked RENDS, the maker of the A10 Piston SA, by email in May 2022, they told me there is no warranty.
There was no warranty card in the box my A10 Piston SA came in, either.
And there was nothing about a warranty on the receipt.
Where Do You Send an A10 Piston SA for Repair?
In the past, there were reviews saying “you could send it for repair because RENDS makes the A10 Piston SA.”
I asked by email, and they told me they don't do repairs (May 2022):
“We do not accept the A10 Piston SA or the A10 Piston Basic for repair.” (That was in May 2022. As of September 2026, the A10 Piston Basic has a warranty of 1 month from purchase, with free repair or replacement, and paid repairs after that; second-hand units and the built-in battery aren't covered, and the warranty is valid in Japan only.)
Their email reply came in less than a day, so if there's something you're not sure about, it's worth asking them by email.

How RENDS Handled Repairs in the Past, and What to Do If They Repair It
One reviewer said they sent their A10 Piston SA to RENDS for repair, but it couldn't be fixed because it was “too dirty.”
So I recommend cleaning it thoroughly before sending it in for repair.
I also recommend taking photos of it with your phone before you send it.
That way you have the photos as evidence, and you can ask them to explain exactly how it was dirty.
If the A10 Piston SA Keeps Stopping, It's Not Broken
When you first start using the A10 Piston SA, it may stop almost as soon as you put your penis in, and you might think it's broken.
But it isn't broken.
It simply stops because there isn't enough lotion, so the A10 Piston SA is under too much load.
If the red lamp lights up and it stops, it's probably under heavy load.
The fix is to put your penis in with the power off first, and move your hips yourself to get things slick.
Then when you switch it on, it won't be under such a heavy load and it will keep moving.
Low-speed modes put more load on the A10 Piston SA.
Set it to level 3 or higher: the movement gets stronger and the load actually drops.
If you go from high speed to low speed, it stops less often.

If the Cap Keeps Coming Off, It's Not Broken
When you first start using the A10 Piston SA, the cap will probably come off now and then.
Don't worry — it isn't broken.
There's probably too little lotion in the A10 Piston SA sleeve, so the heavy load pops the cap off.
The fix is to use plenty of lotion.
Putting your penis in with the power off and moving your hips to get things slick first also helps.
I was stingy with the lotion once, the cap came off, and it pinched the skin of my thigh. It hurt.
First, Try the Troubleshooting Table in the A10 Piston SA Manual
The user manual has a troubleshooting table for when something goes wrong.
Start by checking the problem against this table. Here's what it says in English:
The inner case won't come out
Press and hold the eject button to bring the inner case all the way to the front, then turn the inner case to the left to unlock it and pull it out.
The mode lamp flashes red and blue alternately and the buttons don't work
Press the eject button to switch back to operating mode.
The mode lamp is lit blue and the buttons don't work
Check that it isn't connected to the dedicated wireless adapter or the smartphone app. (As of September 2026, NLS notes that the current 4DMEDIAPLAYER doesn't support the VORZE wireless adapter; on a PC, use built-in Bluetooth or a standard Bluetooth adapter.)
The mode lamp flashes red and it can't be operated
The motor has overheated and is cooling down. The power turns off automatically once it has cooled.

You Can Buy A10 Piston SA Parts at NLS
Just because part of your A10 Piston SA broke doesn't mean you have to replace the whole unit.
These A10 Piston SA parts were on sale (May 2022):
- Cable
- Inner case
If an A10 Piston SA accessory breaks, buy the replacement at NLS (the official Japanese online store for RENDS/VORZE), which sells them. As of September 2026, NLS still sells the A10 Piston SA inner case (¥2,057, in stock), but the old A10 Piston SA charging cable is no longer sold, and it doesn't fit the A10 Piston SA PLUS.
For example, if the case that holds the dedicated sleeve breaks, you only need to buy that part.

What to Do If It Won't Charge
The key is to narrow down where the problem is.
You need to work out whether the unit itself is broken and can't charge, or whether the charging cable is broken.
First, check whether the charging cable is damaged.
If there's clearly a damaged spot, buying just a new charging cable was the cheaper fix when I wrote this (as of September 2026, NLS no longer sells the old A10 Piston SA cable).

Be Most Careful Not to Drop the A10 Piston SA
The A10 Piston SA is heavy, so if you drop it, it may break.
Because it's heavy it's also hard to handle, so there's always a risk of dropping it.
I've nearly dropped mine several times.
I've also banged it hard against my desk.
I usually use it while wearing a VR headset that syncs with the A10 Piston SA, and since I can't see well, the risk of dropping it is higher.
Buying a mount reduces the risk of breaking it this way.

Watch Out: The Charging Port on the A10 Piston SA Often Breaks
Problems with the charging cable connection are pretty common.
With other electronics, too, the base of the cable is where things break most often.
If the charging cable broke, it wasn't a big problem back then, since NLS sold the cable on its own (it no longer does, as of September 2026).
But if the unit itself breaks, you'll have to buy a whole new one.
Handle the unit with great care.
Lotion Getting Inside Can Also Break It
The A10 Piston SA isn't waterproof. The official English manual says the top cap and the main unit are not waterproof; only the sleeve and the inner case can be washed with water.
Water getting inside may break it.
Take steps to keep lotion from getting in.
Because it stops under load, you tend to use a lot of lotion.
That's why it's important to take the sleeve out quickly after you come.
And wipe off any lotion running onto the unit right away.
If you use a non-dedicated, open-ended sleeve, the risk of breaking it goes up.
It's a pain in the post-orgasm lull, but do it — there's a risk of breaking it.
Using it in a cowgirl position (lying on your back with it on top) is a good idea, because lotion is less likely to run into the unit.
If you use it normally, you should be fine.
Using a fairly thick lotion also matters.
A runny lotion could get in and corrode the A10 Piston SA's circuit board.
The maker sells its own lotion (VORZE Smooth Lotion, ¥836 (about US$5) at NLS as of September 24, 2026), which is thick, so using that is the safest choice.
Leave It for a While — It Might Fix Itself
Surprisingly, leaving the A10 Piston SA alone for a while can sometimes fix the problem.
I'm sure you've had machines do strange things like that too.
Giving it time also helps you cool your own head.
It's possible some lotion reached the circuit board, and once it dried, the toy started working again.

After six months, the gears started making a strange noise.
I contacted support and sent it for repair.
“A large amount of dirt has built up inside.”
They said it couldn't be repaired.
All I got out of it was ¥2,000 in shipping costs.

It broke two months after I bought it. When I switched it on, the red lamp flashed and the power cut out right away.
It came with no maker's warranty, so I was worried whether they'd help. They replied by email right away.
I sent the broken unit for repair that same day, and it came back in a week.
